About Me
Hi! I’m Ify, an independent researcher at Masakhane an open science community where Africans do AI research for Africa. Prior to this, I spent three years as a Data Scientist in the industry.
My research focuses on improving multilingual, human-centered Natural Language Processing (NLP) for low-resource languages by leveraging methods like transfer learning and bias mitigation techniques. I work on machine translation, multilingual models, and language variation to create more accurate, fair and inclusive NLP systems for diverse languages and communities.
Previously, I completed my master’s degree in Mathematics from University of Ibadan in 2021 and my bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
